As a teenager and young adult, when the pressure built up inside me I released it with self-harm. This painting is a visual representation of that harm. It’s also a reminder that I know and practice better ways now. As the parent of a kid who also has a tight pressure valve inside, it’s also my responsibility to teach him how to release that pressure in safe ways.
