Who I am

I am a multimedia artist currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the core of my practice is a commitment to transforming lived experiences of disability, chronic pain, and mental illness into a visual language. I work primarily with acrylic paint on canvas and panel, layering materials like plaster cloth, sand, texture paste, and found objects to create textured, dimensional surfaces that hold both struggle and resilience. Words—painted directly onto the surface or woven into titles—help bridge the gap between my inner world and the viewer’s own experiences.

Over the past two decades, I’ve worked across painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, earthworks, and performance art. My early work explored themes of the figure, divinity, and the feminine. Later, as a mother, my focus turned toward the intensity of motherhood. More recently, shaped by both my teaching experience and the realities of living with disability and chronic illness, my work has moved toward questions of embodiment, vulnerability, and visibility.

No matter the materials or methods, one constant runs through everything I make: a desire to give form to what is difficult to articulate, and to invite others to sit with the complexity of human experience—perhaps finding a reflection of themselves along the way.
