For me, plaster cloth brings to mind two things: art school and medicine. Plaster can be rough or smooth, used to create a replica, repair something old, or to form something new entirely. Here plaster cloth draped on canvas reveals movement and 3-dimensional forms we don’t always expect to see on this substrate. Leaving the underlying cloth visible reminds the viewer of the ways plaster is used to cover and bandage a broken body. Seen here rough, with the mark of the hand left visible; is this repair, copy, or creation?
